PARIA CANYON

NORTHERN ARIZONA

Kentz and Lindsey's March 12, 2005 Trip - continued.

Awesome!  Kentz stands under the massive overhang of one of Paria Canyon's wall.  Yes, ladies, Kentz is rather chiseled, himself.

Lindsey stands before this incredible formation, Slide Rock Arch, just one of Paria's many spectacular wonders.

Kentz is dwarfed by Paria's towering and colorful walls

Lindsey passes a stand of Cottonwoods, a sure sign of water in the desert.  The end of the trip and a warm shower are close.

With a sigh mixed with relief and sadness, Kentz and Lindsey near the end of their five day journey.  They departed in the mid-afternoon on Saturday, March 12 and exited Wednesday afternoon at about 3 PM - four full days of hiking.

The unexpected - the actual White House trailhead lies 2 miles from the visitor center and parking lot; March winds in the canyon, cold and deep water in the river, cold mornings, which resulted from the canyon walls blocking the early morning sun, and a bit more of a challenging hike than expected; tough to locate one's position when in a canyon, where far-off landmarks cannot be seen.  The reward - easy to follow the trail, and when not, the canyon walls herded you in the right direction; welcome solitude and absolutely spectacular scenery.  Oh, and Pizza and Beer back in Kanab!
