Grand Teton National Park - taken 8/2/02. The majestic and awesome Grand Teton Mountain rises above all its compatriots at 13,770 elevation, almost 7,000 feet above the prairies that surround it..
Young bull Moose in Death Canyon - 8/3/02. I carefully maneuvered to within 75 feet for this photo. Denise M. first saw the Moose, a herd of about 8-10, grazing near her campsite, and she alerted me to their presence.

Tom C. atop Fox Creek Pass, overlooking Death Cayon - 8/3/02. From this point we entered the Death Canyon Shelf area, which runs back along the north rim of the canyon to Meeks Pass.

Fabulous wildflower display atop the Death Canon Shelf - 8/3/02.

Tom C. and me standing before the Grand Teton and Middle Teton, as seen from the west side. We are standing atop 10,400' Hurricane Pass - 8/4/02.

I am especially proud of this hard-earned photo. I parallel tracked this Moose and her calf for about 2 tenths of a mile through forest and creek until, having achieved a position ahead of them, I waited for them to arrive. Suddenly they emerged from a small gully rising up from the creek, and I had my photo - 8/5/02.

The Grand Teton on the right and the Middle Teton to its left - seen from the east - 8/5/02.

These large samples of scat, compared to my bottle of Ben's insect repellent, and the second to some toilet tissue, are from a Grizzly. Although the first is not the typical "puddle" sort of bear scat, I think that diet led to these "plant-filled" droppings. They were too large for any other animal I know of in the region, and we found several of these scat piles near diggings, log rippings, and Grizzly paw prints. The second sample is more customary in looks.
